Double short-listing in business awards
Double short-listing in business awards

National Grid has been short-listed in two categories at the Business in the Community Responsible Business Awards 2016.

The Responsible Business Awards are sponsored by Business in the Community, part of HRH The Prince of Wales’ Responsible Business Network.

The Awards celebrate inspiring examples of businesses making a significant difference by improving their local communities, creating more inclusive workplaces and tackling environmental challenges.

We’ve been recognised for ‘Natural Grid – Building bigger, better and more connected spaces for nature’ in the Asda Environmental Leadership Award category, and for our ‘EmployAbility – Let’s Work Together’ internship programme for young people with learning disabilities in the Employment for Excluded Groups category.

The 2016 Responsible Business Awards celebrate inspiring examples of businesses that are making a significant difference by improving their local communities, creating more inclusive workplaces and tackling environmental challenges.

They were announced to coincide with Responsible Business Week (18-22 April 2016), an annual initiative to increase awareness of the positive contribution of business in society.

The Natural Grid project shows how our land and natural assets can be managed in an efficient, collaborative and environmentally responsible way, ensuring these valuable resources and the benefits they provide are there for the longer term.

Our ‘EmployAbility, Let’s Work Together’ programme helps students with learning disabilities achieve paid employment, supporting those who have had a very challenging start in life.

Looking ahead to FES 2018
